CHICKEN RANCH RANCHERIA OF ME-WUK INDIANS DONATES $500,000 TO YOUTH SPORTS FOUNDATION SPORTS COMPLEX PROJECT

Sonora, CA – In their largest donation ever, the Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians has donated $500,000 to the Youth Sports Foundation of Tuolumne County (YSF). This donation is to support building a multi-sport facility complex for the youth of Tuolumne County.

The Chicken Ranch Rancheria’s donation will be able to be matched through Sonora Area Foundation’s $1.5M, which was awarded to YSF in October 2021. To date, YSF has raised approximately $2.5M of the $3M budgeted for the project, bringing Tuolumne County incredibly close to fully funding a major expansion of much needed sports facilities for our kids and community.

YSF is currently working through the permitting process with the County of Tuolumne and is anticipating the possibility of an official groundbreaking mid-2022. YSF continues to seek community donations through YSFTC.org, which includes an option to purchase customized bricks that local residents, families, and businesses can purchase and forever leave a lasting impression on this new facility.

The yet-to-be named facility is planned to offer a full-size soccer field, a youth soccer field with artificial turf, a 20,000 square foot open-air sports pavilion, four pickleball courts, batting cages, and a 1.5 mile walking trail. The project will be built on approximately 7 acres of land on Tuolumne Road, immediately west of Standard Park.

Founded in 1999, YSF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the life of Tuolumne County residents through the improvement and enhancement of youth play spaces, facilities, and sport fields.
